getting results with 18:6 and OMAD – 214

Fasting Fam, I’m finding it much easier to be compliant with the 18:6 and OMAD fasting protocols and finally getting more consistent weight loss results. I am hungry for a few hours in the morning and at night but my body feels good at the same time. I haven’t been counting calories and I’ve been good about eating in a 3-6 hour eating window depending on the day. Sometimes I have one larger calorie dense meal, and sometimes I have 2 medium meals. I haven’t been snacking much in between on the 2 meal days. I love that fasting can be so flexible and that are many ways to do it and be successful.

One caveat: I’m still having dairy in my coffee in the morning, and I’m not sure I’m ever going to give that up. My first and sometimes only meal is usually around lunchtime. The coffee does help bridge the gap and I savor the tumbler of coffee all the way until lunch. I use full fat milk or half and half and zero calorie sweetener.

I started this fasting journey when the scale said 228. I knew I had to do something. This morning I weighed in at 214. Even if I only lose 2 pounds a month I will be thrilled, as long as I keep going in the right direction.

It’s all about being in a calorie deficit. This way I can eat what I want and not feel guilty and I usually have a large helping of fruit and/or vegetables every day. By the end of the 3-6 hours I’m still not very hungry because I’m a big eater and would rather have a large meal and smaller or no meals after that, and I’m so full from meal 1 that anything else would be uncomfortable.

My meals these days have been a delightful variety. Cherries are in season so I eat a lot of those every day, and of course there’s the home made bean burrito I have 3-4 times a week, I tried Panera for the first time today and the sandwich was delicious and you get a bag of kettle chips with it. The Oregon Burrito from the Taqueria Torito Loco was the find of 2026 – it reminded me of sandwiches in France in that it was a Mexican burrito but with FRIES in it! The combination was incredible in part because they were generous with the cheese and sour cream, and also because the toritilla was cooked to perfection. It took all my might to finish 3/4 of it because it was so big and filling, and I have a big appetite, believe me! I may order that again tomorrow 🌯

I had two tofu salads this week, and on one day I had a big lunch with 2 eggs, 2 turkey paddies, and 2 hashbrown paddies and boy did that one hit the spot! Full for hours of course. I don’t feel deprived eating this way, and get to enjoy food every day, and I can always move the window to accommodate a social event. The hunger is tolerable knowing I got to eat whatever I wanted and that I’m now burning fat and potentially recycling and killing old and damaged cells.

I’ve also started a pm ritual of sipping sleep inducing herbal teas in the evening. I have a terrible weakness for grocery store tea…anyway, tonite it’s just Walmart’s Great Value Night Time herbal tea and it’s nice, with a minty flavor:

What are your favorite grocery store teas? I’d love to know!
