When I go to bed fasted and at some level of hungry, I get so excited about eating the next day and dream of all the yummy noms I’ll get to have when I wake up. However, when morning comes that desire for food has more often than not vanished and food seems less interesting and not as tasty. Does that happen to you guys at all?
For example, today is my up day and I had a lovely dark kale salad with prawns tonite at a nice restaurant and it was just “meh” and I was looking forward to it all day. Other treats I thought I’d be excited about like a bag of Corn Nuts was just “meh”. One nice discovery though was I did try a recipe for Peanut Butter Chocolate Oatmeal I got on YouTube for my oats this morning and it was pretty tasty, I must admit. Here is the recipe:
You mix 1/2 cup of oats, 1 TB stevia, 2 TB PB2, – mix all these dry ingredients together well, then stir in the liquids: 1/4 cup egg whites, 1/2 cup water, and 1/2 cup ready made protein mix, I used Walmart’s cheaper equivalent of Premier Protein chocolate, the one that has 30g protein per shake.
Microwave for a minute, then take out and stir well again because the egg whites change the consistency a bit and it will rise. After you stir it the second time it will be consistent. Microwave again for 40 seconds or so maybe? Stir again, then top with 1 teaspoon chocolate chips, 1 teaspoon peanut butter chips (I used Reeses chips), and some sugar free chocolate syrup. Take a picture of it looking so pretty, then stir it all together. It was very filling and was so creamy in texture!
The thing is, I’m just not much of a chocolate girl, so this too was not as awesome to my taste buds as it should have been, but I will try this again as a pumpkin pie version, banana cream version, blueberry version, etc. and I’m sure it will be great. I loved using the egg whites and ready made protein shake to get the extra protein and creaminess in.
The one thing I always enjoy on my up day is my indulgent 26 oz 160 calorie home made dark roast Starbucks coffee with 8 TB of half-n-half and some zero calorie sweetener. On fast days I have zero calorie Early Bird Morning Cocktail to wake up with instead. It gets the job done, but it’s just not the same as Glorious Coffee…βοΈ
Well, tomorrow is another fast day and the menu will be a little higher because I’m lifting heavy weights after work and will need to feed my muscles afterward with the 160 calorie protein shake. The pumpkin spice one by Premier Protein is my favorite of all time to date, and damn do I miss Halloween π
