proud of myself – i stuck to adf on vacation, still not drinking alcohol, + a new fast day gadget

Thanks to all the back and forth tedious planning prior to my beach getaway, I packed appropriately, and stuck to my down days while on vacation, one of which is today. I took tomorrow off work to reassimilate back into city life, and it will of course be an up day. I have a grocery delivery coming at 11:00 with hot chicken, always a treat, but if I’m up early I’d like to make some protein waffles with Kodiak mix and a protein rich topping made with full fat Greek yogurt, sugar free Jello pudding mix, and protein powder and sugar free syrup.

I had a pretty epic up day while on vacation so I’m not sure if I’ll lose much if anything, but I haven’t had alcohol now for a few weeks and I’m proud of this feat too. When my friend saw me sticking to my guns with my eating choices and not drinking, she decided to not drink too, and as such we discovered these super yummy hibiscus watermelon mocktails yesterday, like a fine shave ice with a slice of lime, and the glass was rimmed with tamarind. It was delicious and refreshing, like a fancy virgin margarita.

Now ending my fast day with the usual egg scramble, and having fun with my new frivolous gadget – an automatic iced tea maker, much like a regular drip coffee maker only with tea in mind. I’ve had two in my past and miss having one, even though I don’t have much counter space. The ice cold pitcher of Blackberry Citrus herbal tea I made with it this evening reminded me why it’s not a waste of space, especially on a down day when under 5 calorie drinks can really hit the spot.

What really saved me on vacation was having a fancy coffee as breakfast on down day mornings, consisting of a ready made 30g protein vanilla protein shake, 170 calories, along with strong black coffee and zero calorie sweetener over ice. It wasn’t as good as feast day Glorious Coffee of 180 calories from fattening half and half, but it’s a tasty and filling swap that did not at all disappoint.

Tomorrow I envision starting my up day with Glorious Coffee, hot rotisserie chicken, a home made pita pizza with Farmland diced ham and deli pepperoni, olives, onions, cheese, and a bean burrito with fixins. I should have enough bones to make bone broth and also need to make a new batch of black beans in the Instant pot.

How is your fasting journey going?
