an up day on 1 hour of sleep + a different kind of fast day tomorrow and maybe this week

Fasting Fam, I had the worst night’s sleep ever. It’s 90 degrees here, I don’t have A/C, and my mind will not shut down / stop thinking about stressful family issues. I finally fell aasleep at 4am, only to be awoken by cats fighting or in heat at 5am. Sigh.

I went to lunch with my friend and could only eat half of the burrito today. Since then I’ve had some cherries but that’s it. I’m not very hungry.

I got LOADS of groceries for a STEAL at the deep discount / gleaner grocery store I go to – $62 for 9 bags of Starbucks coffee normally $16 each and a full cart of organic groceries including cherries, blueberries, peaches, apricots, big clamshell of greens, living butter lettuce (I’ll plants outside with the living basil!), purple cauliflower, 4 fennel bulbs, asparagus, red bananas / plantains, dandelion greens, and MORE.

Because I have so much fruit and veg to use up now, tomorrow and possible all this week I’m going to do some juicing, and am excited about that because of all the live raw organic micro nutrients that will be flooding my system So far my down day menu is:

I used a juice calculator for the calories and macros.

Breakfast: apple / yellow peppers / garlic (sounds weird but it’s DELICIOUS and garlic is sooooo good for you
Lunch: dandelion greens / apple / ginger
Dinner: usual egg scramble – 2 eggs, 1/4 cup egg whites, 2 oz diced ham, 1 slice sharp cheddar cheese
PM coziness: fennel / celery – soooooo good and has lots of potassium and magnesium, which is calming and also good for leg cramps, to which I am prone. The afternoon snack is really the PM cozy snack.

It’s a bit over what I would normally have on a modified down day but I want the health benefits and let’s face it, the greens need the fruit for it to taste good and I have a lot of healthy organic produce to use up.

I know I need to eat something else today (it’s a no-no on ADF to diet on your up days, you should eat your full calories on those days or at least up to somewhere around your TDEE, so I’m going to sauté some mushrooms and asparagus with butter and garlic and toss in some of that rotisserie chicken I need to use up with some risotto and bone broth. Off to find a generic recipe!

Hope we all get some good sleep this Sunday night, especially for us worker bees who lay awake at night with racing minds and have some Monday dread to cope with.
